The Bombarda had considerable diffusion in Europe since the Middle Ages, becoming one of the most important double-reed instruments in the culture of the time. Widely used and widespread even during the Renaissance, later, thanks to various modifications, it became the oboe. It remains a typical instrument in the culture and popular music of various European countries.
