Musette (France)

The Musette is the French bagpipe.
Originally the term Musette was linked to a type of bagpipe typical of central France, currently it also refers to a type of typically French popular dance presumably born in Paris. The instrument and the dance are linked by the fact that the first dances were danced to the sound of the Musette bagpipe.
Composers such as Bach and Mozart reworked some Musette pieces, bringing them to the fore. Bagpipes of this type are still made by master luthiers from France, Holland, Germany and other countries surrounding France.
The sound of the current Musettes is very warm, clean, discreet and goes well with guitar, diatonic accordion and violin.
