Recorder which boasts an antiquity of over 3000 years: under the Sui (589-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties it was the main instrument of the orchestra.
For two centuries the most famous Xiao have been produced in Guizhou where there is a particular bamboo that gives an exceptional timbre and is resistant to insects.
